With a long history of fishing and farming, its no surprise that with all this fabulous local produce on their doorsteps, top chefs have flocked to the region. Cornwall now has the best restaurants per square mile than anywhere outside London - and a good handful of Michelin stars too! Here are just a few recommendations to try whilst you're staying with us...
The Locals
We are lucky to have two very good local pubs to choose from. The Molesworth Arms - just a mile into the village, was recently voted in the top 12 by Devon Life for it's Sunday Lunch and in the summer you can enjoy fresh pizza from their woodfired oven. The Rydon inn, just a mile further towards Holsworthy is also very popular with our visitors and has a lovely garden overlooking the lake - great for relaxing on a summers evening.
Sunday Carvery
For the very best in the area - a visit to Trethorne at Launceston is a must (my personal favorite and I'm very fussy about my roasts!) but closer to home, Holsworthy Golf Club also does a very respectable carvery.
Family Friendly
The Bay View Inn at Widemouth Bay is a great favourite with locals and vistors alike. They have just refurbished their childrens play area and have a great menu for all ages - the mussels are always my first choice!
Lets do Lunch!
If you've got the kids in tow, then Rosie's at Crooklets Beach is a great choice - there's a secure outdoor play area with seating right next to it, so you can enjoy your lunch and still keep an eye on them.
Special occasion? pop along to Elements between Widemouth and Bude and take advantage of their special lunch offers (not in school holidays) and enjoy spectacular sea views.
Celebrity Chefs
Padstow is normally top of everyone's list - with both Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth having restaurants there - if you can't stretch to fine dining then Rick's fish & chips are always popular. Top of the list, and a bit closer to the farm however, Restaurant Nathan Outlaw at Port Isaac (yes Doc Martin country) has just topped the good food guide for the second year running.
